Frequently asked questions

  • The first few sessions will focus on learning more about what is bringing you to therapy, what you are hoping to gain from the therapy process and discussing current life circumstances. We will also co-create your treatment plan so our work has some direction and focus.

Your therapy journey will be unique to you and treatment is tailored to your needs. I will support you with your vision for change and will be open to learning more about what matters most to you.

  • After receiving your consultation request, I will email you within a day or two to schedule a 30-minute consultation within a couple of weeks. The consultation is to clear up any questions or logistical issues and determine if we could work well together before making you an official client.

If we feel like a good fit, I’ll add you to the Jane App client portal, where you can book your weekly/bi-weekly appointment time. You will also receive an intake and consent form in your client account to complete before our first session. These are all digital and don’t require printing or emailing me anything.

Before your first appointment (and every appointment after that), you’ll receive an email confirming your booking and a link to our video session (virtual clients) or details about accessing my office location (in-person clients).

  • You may notice that you gain clarity, confidence, and direction in a few weeks, or months in small meaningful ways. With longstanding pieces, we adjust the pace so it may take some time to see noticeable shifts.

A part of the process is checking in to see what’s working and not working for you. We’ll bring curiosity to see what we might need to adjust and make the necessary changes.

  • You have the option to choose between weekly or bi-weekly sessions. Having a consistent session schedule allows you to get the most value out of your therapy experience.

To start, I recommend a minimum of 4 weekly sessions so we can get to know each other, develop a treatment plan and determine a fit. We can assess whether we continue with weekly or bi-weekly sessions once we have a sense of what you’d like to work on.

  • You may want to have water, tissues, a warm blanket, and/or fidgets. Fur friends (pets) are also welcome!

It can also be helpful to mute notifications on your device(s) while in session.
